TiPP (Theatre in Prisons & Probation)
Client:
TiPP’s mission is to work through the arts with offenders and related communities, in order to stimulate growth and change. It develops participatory arts projects and undertakes training for artists and professionals from the Criminal Justice System.
Brief:
In late 2004 TiPP commissioned G & M Associates Ltd to help the organisation prepare a Succession Plan for the potential recruitment of a new Director. The organisation wished to evaluate the likely impact of this change on the viability of the organisation and take appropriate action to obviate the negative effects.
The focus of our work was to:
a. Interview key external stakeholders – funders and main contractors, to identify the external context and the key priorities for the organisation
b. Identify internal issues that need attention in the event of the recruitment of a new Director
c. Provide mentoring support to the Director and Trustees on specific issues arising from the report
Outcomes:
We produced a detailed report that analysed our findings, clarified the priorities and gave clear timetabled recommendations for management action over an 18 month period. We also helped to recruit a new Board member to a key post and facilitated a Board Development event. During the course of the consultancy the Director found a new energy and sense of purpose and he has remained at TiPP.
